Left Behind

Someone messaged me these thoughts quoted below:

A decade ago I felt like I could find anything on the Web. Now I feel like I can barely find anything. People just don’t put information on web pages anymore.

Google doesn’t provide discovery / distribution for new creators so they’ve migrated to social.

I do not even do Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat. Just X and Reddit.. to read. Perhaps I am being left behind..

I share similar sentiments.

People being able to manipulate Google Search via SEO messed things up on the Web. The existing alternative search engines don’t have Google’s reach. Search needs to be disrupted.

Then, there’s social media, where entertainment, ignorance, and stupidity rules the day. They are not interested in information on social media; while you can find some helpful information there, much of it is cruise and silliness.

It is a mess on both fronts.

Yes, we are being left behind, but it is difficult to want to keep up with this modern madness.
